  • Neuroendocrine control of female reproduction
  • Pathophysiology of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)
  • Brain pathways involved in the control of socio-sexual behaviors

Dr. Silva’s expertise is centered on the neuroendocrine control of reproductive function and socio-sexual behaviors in mammals. Specifically, my research has provided insights into how hypothalamic and sensory neurocircuits regulate the secretion of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH). He has also extensively studied how the brain plays a crucial pathogenic role in the manifestation of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), an endocrine disorder that significantly impacts female fertility.
