RQR Travel Awards
The RQR offers travel awards of a maximum of $500 to cover costs associated with national or international meetings to promote scientific exchange. For a meeting held in the province of Québec the maximum amount of the award is up to $250.
The admission criteria are the following:
- The meeting must occur between January 1st and December 31st, 2015.
- Applicants must be giving a poster or platform presentation at the meeting.
- Your research director must be an RQR member and his/her annual update of the web page on the RQR website must be completed.
- Only one travel award per year per student.
- The meeting cannot take place in the city where the applicant lives.
***Note: Students must include the RQR logo in their presentation***
Students and postdoctoral fellows can apply by sending the Registration form to j.blouin@umontreal.ca by May 29, 2015.
If the travel grant is awarded, the following documents will be required:
- Proof of registration to the meeting
- Proof your abstract was accepted for an oral or poster presentation
RQR Networking workshop
The RQR is organizing a networking workshop between clinicians, veterinarians, RQR researchers and pharmaceutical and biotech companies. The meeting is scheduled on Monday, May 25th, from 10:00AM to 3:00PM and will be held at the Faculté de médecine vétérinaire in St-Hyacinthe.
Why bring together veterinarians and clinicians? Because some issues are applicable at both the human and animal level and thus, all parties can benefit from a joint meeting, as examples, the following topics could be addressed:
- Evolution of ovarian reserve.
- Pesticides and endocrine disruptors.
- How to select the normal sperm at the time of ICSI.
- Evaluating different freezing techniques for frozen ejaculated and testicular human sperm.
- Epigenetics.

Two RQR activities open to general public
Café scientifique Daddy, more important than he thinks!
Most people are already aware of the importance of the mother’s health when it comes time to conceive. But what about the father’s preconception health?
Dr. Daniel Cyr, from the INRS, will host the evening which will take place on June 11th at 6:30PM at the Café des Beaux-Arts located at 1384, Sherbrooke Street West in Montréal.

RQR 24 Hours of Science
Two activities has been organized by the RQR as part of the 24 hours of science. They will take place on Saturday, May 9th at the Longueuil campus of the Université de Sherbrooke, 150, place Charles-Le-Moyne, Longueuil.
10:00AM to 12:00PM: Fertilité et grossesse: la lumière a-t-elle un effet?
1:00PM to 3:00PM: Lumière sur le spermatozoïde!
Admission is free, a reservation required before May 5th (coffee and juice will be served).

New RQR conferences available!
New conferences are now available on the secure website section. You will find, among others, the talks of Drs Jocelyn Dubuc and Greg FitzHarris, Université de Montréal, of Dr Katrin Hinrichs, Texas A&M University as well as Drs Monique Zetka and Sarah Kimmins, McGill University.
This section is accessible only to members and their students and postdoctoral fellows, but you need to register. You will receive a confirmation when your account is activated.
Reminder : RQR Scholarship competition – Summer 2015
The RQR announces a summer scholarship competition directed only to undergraduate trainees. The summer internship must be performed under the direction of a RQR research. Scholarships of $2,500 are offered and are non-renewable.
