Dr. Daniel Bernard elected to the Endocrine Society, Board of Directors

Dr. Daniel Bernard from McGill University was elected as Society leader (Basic Scientist Seat) by The Endocrine Society’s Nominating Committee. Dr. Bernard will assume his new position at the Society’s Annual Business Meeting on April 4, 2016 during the ENDO meeting in Boston, Massachusetts.

Reproductive biology course

A course on reproductive biology was presented at the Faculté de médecine vétérinaire this fall, and is now available online on the RQR website. Many topics were discussed and most of the presentations given by the various RQR researchers were filmed and can be found on the website. You can access it by creating an account in the secure section of the RQR website.

Back to the 2015 RQR Symposium

The 2015 edition of the RQR Symposium attracted a record number of participants with a total of 230 registrations. The event included 66 poster presentations in addition to presentations of 3 guest speakers and 14 oral presentations by students.

Several awards were presented:

Winners of the best oral presentation:

  1. Tie (250$ each) : Mahmoud Aarabi, McGill University and Jenna Haverfield, Université de Montréal
  2. Nazem El-Husseini, McGill University (100$)

Winners best poster presentations:

1. Mathieu Nadeau-Vallée, Université de Montréal (300$)

2. Cayetana Vazquez de Castro Diez, Université de Montréal (200$)

3. Lundi Ly, McGill University (100$)

 

Awardees of the 2015 RQR knowledge transfer award:

  • Researcher Award: Daniel Cyr from INRS
  • Trainee Award: Hermance Beaud, PhD trainee at INRS (laboratory of Dr. Géraldine Delbès)

Reminder about RQR videoconferences

The RQR has a system of video conferencing (GoToWebinar) allowing its members to attend live conferences that take place at each institution. All you need is an internet connection!

For the RQR members, the lectures offered are announced by email with a link to register. They are also announced in the “Upcoming Events” section of the website and the link to register is within the secure section.

Departure of Eliane Auger

It is with regret that we announce that Eliane Auger, the RQR manager, has moved on to a new challenge. By January, Eliane will hold the position of Adjunct director in the Clinical Sciences Department in the Faculté de médecine vétérinaire at the Université de Montréal. We would like to thank her for her enormous and valuable contributions through her 7 years of service in the RQR. We strongly believe that she will meet with success and professionalism the challenges of her new post.

On behalf of all RQR members, we wish her good luck and a lot of happiness in her new functions.
