2017 RQR Symposium

The 10th RQR Symposium will be held on November 14 and 15, 2017 at the Pavillon La Coop of Espace St-Hyacinthe. You can now consult the preliminary program!

Pre-Symposium Workshop

Mitigating gender bias in science

A pre-Symposium workshop entitled « Mitigating gender bias in science » will be held on November 13th, from 9am to 5pm.

Please note that this workshop will take place at the Faculté de médecine vétérinaire (1500, rue des vétérinaires, room 1465) in St-Hyacinthe. The workshop is addressed to women and men, from trainees to principal investigators, so everyone is welcome (and encouraged!) to attend. Free for trainees, but regular members and collaborators will be asked to contribute 150$ to help defray costs. The workshop will be held in English only, and the format will require that it be limited to 40 participants.

KT Award – Deadline extended

As part of the 2017 Symposium, the RQR will offer two Knowledge Transfer Awards: a researcher award and a trainee award. These two awards in the amount of $400 each will be officially awarded at the RQR Annual Symposium in November along with an honorary plaque.

Applications must be submitted by email to charlene.rico@umontreal.ca by October 20th. Please note that it is also possible to nominate another member, trainee or researcher.

RQR Training Committee: Students wanted!

The RQR Training Committee is seeking for 4 new students members from each of the 4 research centers involved in the network.

The main objectives will be to set up an interuniversity course in reproductive biology, decide on future training workshops and participate in the organization of future Symposia.

The Committee will meet 2 to 3 times a year.

If you want to submit your application, please send your request by email to charlene.rico@umontreal.ca and explain why you want to be a part of this committee.

TRAINING WORKSHOPS:   The Training Committee wishes to know the needs of its students regarding future training workshops. Do not hesitate to send your suggestions by email to charlene.rico@umontreal.ca.

New RQR manager

It is with a great pleasure that the RQR welcomes a new RQR manager, Charlène Rico. Charlène obtained her PhD in 2010 in France at the Institut National de Recherche Agronomique (University of Tours). From 2011 to 2014 she acquired postdoctoral experience at the Université de Montréal and Boviteq. We wish her all the best!

The Quebec Reference Center for Agriculture and Agri-food (CRAAQ) will present the 2017 Symposium sur les bovins laitiers on Tuesday October 24 at the Centrexpo Cogeco in Drummondville.

The FRQNT international internship program is back

The FRQNT has opened a 2017-2018 competition to allow us to expand our network internationally: the international internship program (reserved for MSc and PhD students of the network)

Act quickly! The stay must begin before March 31, 2018 and deadline to submit an application to the RQR is November 20, 2017!
