Research interests
After obtaining a diploma in Zootechnology from the ITA St Hyacinthe campus in 1986, I moved into the agricultural sector in animal production. I worked for two and a half years at PATLQ (now Lactanet), from 1986 to 1989. Then I pursued my career for 29 years at CIAQ (Centre d’insémination artificielle du Québec) as an inseminator and advisory service representative, from 1989 to 2018. I contributed to the genetic improvement of dairy herds in the Estrie region.
I developed a passion for teaching and knowledge transfer. I continued my career as an artificial insemination trainer. I trained dairy producers as well as new inseminators, CIAQ’s first field line.
Since 2013, I’ve also been teaching at ITAQ’s St Hyacinthe campus, where I’m passionate about passing on my knowledge and concepts of reproduction, management and equipment to over 100 students a year in two separate programs: Gestion et technologies d’entreprise agricole (GTEA) and Technologie des productions animales (TPA). I teach the following courses Dairy cattle genetics and reproduction (GTEA) , Dairy cattle health and welfare (GTEA), Distinguishing animal management practices (GTEA), Technical support: Dairy cattle 1 (TPA), Determining facility and equipment needs (TPA) . Seeing the evolution of my students, who will be the future industry players acquiring theoretical and practical skills, is a great source of motivation in my work. Agriculture is changing fast, and I’m constantly updating my courses and teaching methods for my students.
